This is from a post I wrote last year on my older blog. Although I no longer have the original post, I am attempting to write it again, with some modifications, on this blog.
Right now, we are in the 6th Biblical month, known as the month of Elul. According to the Hebrew Bible, later this month is when God began creating the world. This month is also called "the month of the bride" by Jewish people.
This month precedes the Biblical holiday known as the "Feast of Trumpets" which is on the first day of the 7th Biblical month. The Feast of Trumpets is the same day that God created man and woman in His own image, the 6th day of creation.
Because this month precedes the Feast of Trumpets, the Jewish people commonly blow the shofar once a day during the month of Elul to remind the people that the King is coming, that the Feast of Trumpets is approaching!
But why would this Biblical month be called the "month of the bride"?
The Biblical month of Elul comes from an acronym, a verse in the Bible, that says:
That is how the Jews came up with this month being called "the month of the bride". The Biblical month of Elul is in late summer/ early fall which is August/ September on our calendar. Many Jewish weddings take place during this month.
Someday, I believe the wedding of our Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, will also take place during this season. Just as Eve was created and brought to Adam on the "Feast of Trumpets" (the 6th day of creation), someday, the Lord Jesus will blow the trumpet, the shofar, to come and get His bride! The symbolism is strikingly beautiful!
Those who have studied the Biblical holidays cannot help but make a connection to the return of Christ someday on the Feast of Trumpets. This holiday is known to the Jewish people as "the day and the hour when no man knows when it comes". Why so? Because the Jewish people have to be outside looking for the new moon, to see when it might appear, to celebrate this holiday.
I know many Christians who believe Jesus will return on this Biblical holiday some year. The Bible says that no man will know the day or the hour, but Jesus said we would know when it was close, even "at the door". (Matthew 24:33) The connection to this holiday is undeniable.
As a Christian, I cannot help but make a connection to "the month of the Bride" being a month when the bride of Christ will also prepare herself for her coming bridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Naturally, that made me think even deeper. Ever since the creation of the world, Jesus has been looking for a bride, but He is not looking for just any bride.
I believe Jesus has been searching for a bride who loves Him. He's been looking for a bride who wants Him.
The Bible says: "We love him, because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19
Jesus initiated this love. Because He first loved us, He waits to see if we will love Him in return.
In life, there are those who may love another person, but they are not loved or wanted in return. I know what that feels like.
Through the years, there have been Godly, single men I've admired. I hoped so much that one of them might ask to begin a relationship with me, but none of them ever asked. I was not wanted or chosen by any of them. That is a reality for me.
The beautiful truth is that Jesus will never reject anyone who comes to Him. He will never reject anyone who wants Him.
The Lord Jesus extends His proposal to anyone who will receive Him. Will you accept His offer?
He gave His life for you. All He asks in return is that you love Him by giving Him your life.
He loves you and me with an everlasting love, and I believe Jesus eagerly awaits the day when He comes to get His Bride!
